The Star That Made Me Laugh.

Lighthouse Theatre and The Birth of The Laughing Star!

At Cine Puppetry, we’re thrilled to share a glimpse into our recent journey, which has been nothing short of enchanting. In collaboration with the renowned Lighthouse Theatre in Poole, we embarked on a special project as part of the “SANCTUARY” initiative. This incredible opportunity allowed us to bring our vision to life, right at the heart of the Sherling Studio within the Lighthouse Theatre.

From the 29th of August to the 1st of September, our creative minds worked tirelessly, crafting, experimenting, and rehearsing for our most recent project, “The Laughing Star.” What made this experience truly magical was the presence of theatre director Natasha Nixon, who joined us as a consultant. Her invaluable insights and guidance helped to establish the direction of our R&D. Inspired by the classic tale, “The Little Prince”, written by the French Antoine Saint Exupery we built the structure of a modern, engaging, imaginative and inclusive story.

About Imagination:

Antoine Saint Exupery’s novel is an ageless story and remains as relevant as ever before, especially if you juxtapose it with our contemporary society. There is no debate that the imagination is still as vital to human survival as at any time before, and it is not only about the survival of our species but also its development. In my opinion, “Imagination is and always will be the most important tool anyone has at their disposal.” (Joel Bernardes)

The Laughing Star: A Modern Interpretation of a timeless story.

Inspired by Antoine Saint Exupery’s beloved novel, “The Little Prince,” Joel Bernardes set to create an original story that captures the essence of the classic. “The Laughing Star” is more than just a deep dive into the universe of The Little Prince, it’s a journey into the heart of imagination and wonder that surrounds it.

The research aims to bring a fresh and imaginative twist, you’ll find a significant resemblance to The Little Prince’s narrative throughout the written result.

We aim to reignite the flames of imagination in both young and old, just as The Little Prince did when it first graced the pages of literature. Offering the children, creative moments, while inviting the adults in our community and society to rediscover and reconnect with their inner child, embracing the limitless possibilities of imagination as they journey with us through the enchanting world of “The Laughing Star.”
